HALFMOON BAY

Inspired by the stunning views of the property, the intention of this full-scope renovation was to embrace and connect the interior with its surroundings. The use of large scale sliding doors opens up the home to the ocean, orienting both the primary bedroom and living space out towards the water to maximize the experience. The setting is further appreciated by the use of black trim on the openings, framing and drawing one’s attention to the vistas. The interior, inspired by contemporary, coastal Australian aesthetic, resulted in a space that is fresh yet tactile. The homeowners’ refined and eclectic taste, along with one-of-a-kind accessories collected over time, provided an abundance of layers resulting in a cultivated space. Handmade tiles add depth and texture, while a green marble fireplace hearth creates strong visual drama, anchoring one in place. Thought was given to minimizing obstruction to the view, therefore the use of sheer linen window treatments and a lightweight pendant was selected for the dining area. The result is a place where the family can retreat while being inspired by the views and surrounded by a uniquely personal interior.
